Who are we?

About Us

The Beaches Lodge meets on the 1st Thursday of every month except July and August. The Lodge regularly opens at 7:30 PM and admits visitors in good standing shortly thereafter. Our Official Visit is in March and the Installation is in May. We invite all travelling brethren to visit our Lodge, which meets in The York Temple in Toronto.

Lodge History

The Beaches Lodge was formed in 1905 and originally met on Balsam Avenue, one building south of Queen Street East, before moving to a new location in Scarborough in the early 1960s. Nowadays, we meet at The York Masonic Temple in Leaside. We, along with about a dozen other lodges, comprise Toronto East District.

Our brand, the Square and Compasses, which you see on the top left of the page, is the well-known symbol of Freemasonry and is publicly displayed on our buildings, buttons, hats, shirts and many websites, not to mention in numerous television shows and movies, and the occasional tattoo these days.

Lodge Mission and Vision

Our mission is to promote personal growth, moral values, and spiritual enlightenment through the teachings of Freemasonry. Our vision is to be a beacon of light and knowledge for our members and the wider community.

Freemasonry Overview

Freemasonry, with its roots in the operative stonemasons of the Middle Ages, has transformed over the centuries into a global fraternal organization that unites millions of individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Craft offers a unique system of moral and philosophical teachings, which are conveyed through rituals, symbols, and allegories.

Lodge Officers

At The Beaches Lodge, our dedicated officers work tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of our Lodge and the well-being of its members. These officers are entrusted with various roles and responsibilities, from organizing events and managing lodge finances to providing guidance and mentorship to newer members.
